As I got older, my visits to my village also kept reducing. And one day I got admission in college and I left home and went to Bangalore for higher studies. When I got a job after being alone there for 3 years, I realized that life is full of struggles.
Today, when I have been working for almost 8 years, I realize how many struggles our parents go through to raise us. Now my day starts at 6:00 am and ends at 10:00 pm. Sometimes I feel as if I am trapped in a vicious cycle. As long as I remain a part of this vicious cycle of life, I will continue to live my life and my life will come to an end as soon as I break out of this cycle.
This metropolis densely packed with concrete houses has all the facilities but there is no happiness, no peace. There is a huge population around but there is not a single person whom we can share our misery with. The income in the city is much higher than the village, but the expenses are also waiting in the same proportion as of the earnings. In Cities You even have to buy water to drink ! Thank God, that we do not have to pay for oxygen.
Today when I see the city roads full of cars, I think of the raw road of the village.
When I see only people around and feel uneasy seeing this crowd, I think of the green fields and gardens of the village.
When I see adulterated milk being sold in shops in the morning, I think of Cows & Buffaloes of my village.
Whenever I see big hotels and expensive restaurants, I think of that small confectionery on the roadside in the village where I used to eat Chaat & Jalebi served on newspaper for ₹ 1.
When I see these tall buildings touching the sky in the city made of brick and glass, I think of the mud house in my village and the land covered with lushgreen grass.
Photo by Jean depocas from PexelsNow there are no raw roads, no houses made up of mud in the villages, neither that pond, nor that canal nor that well where we used to get water from. Nothing is the same as it used to be. The village has literally undergone a big change. I still miss the way my village was !
